New York Fashion Week – Spring/Summer 2018
The time of the year has arrived once again. A week jam-packed with fashionable Millennials, designers and celebrities alike. Yes, I mean New York Fashion Week. The most fashionable week—in my opinion—of the year. Now, this wasn’t my first time around the rodeo when it comes to adventuring around the concrete streets of Manhattan to attend fairly boogie shows. But with that being said, I was still quite ecstatic when I received an invite. This year, I had the pleasure of attending a show by an up-and-coming designer called Artistix, whose line is extremely edgy, trendy and of the current era. With a packed schedule and an even more packed suitcase, I hopped on a Jet Blue flight and made my way to the big apple. Now fashion in some way has been a part of my identity for some time now, but little do many know that I actually have twin cousins who are extremely interested in fashion-related endeavors as well. What’s better than having one fashionable cousin when you can have two! My twin cousins, Ashley and Angelique, also host a weekly vlog on Youtube called Ashley&Angelique which talks about current trends, fashion fads and makeup innovations of our time. With a full day ahead of us, we jumped into our most fashionable outfits and made our way to the city.
Once I entered the fashion show, I was taken into a pre-show room which in a way is really a room for guest to mix & mingle before the show begins. With like-minded people surrounded around me, I decided to network and have a photo-op. Once the show began, we were taken into the runway stage room. Guest promptly took their seats and awaited for the show to begin. As my eyes wondered around the room I spotted a familiar face. Tommy Hilfiger—own of the international fashion brand Tommy Hilifiger—and his wife, Susie Hilfiger, were seat nearly a few rows away from me. Guest began to snap photos and the paparazzi were in full blaze as celebrity guest began to arrive. The show initiated, and I watched as trendy looks sashayed passed me.

I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the details and mixtures of different fabrics and accessories. Artistix is definitely a very trendy and up-beat type of look—and has an aim towards fashionable Millennials and young teens.
As the week went on, I decided to put together some additional looks for other shows I intended to attend. With the mood of the city, I decided to mix in some Fall looks into my week’s aesthetic. Fall is my favorite season, so anytime I get a chance to dawn a Fall look—which is very little living here in the sunshine state of Florida—I take advantage. New York Fashion Week all and all was a success this year. I was able to rejuvenate those dormant fashion desires and even able to bump into a celebrity or two along the way. – David Plowden, David’s Manor.
