A burger joint is slowly taking over the Central Florida food scene, and it’s bringing both delicious burgers and a celebrity aspect along with it. Recently, I ventured off to a very delicious spot called Wahlburgers. And yes, the name may sound a bit familiar since this burger restaurant is named after the Wahlburger family and the mega-superstar Mark Wahlberg himself. Wahlburgers has two locations here in Orlando—one in Downtown Orlando right off of Orange Ave and another in Waterford Lakes. Now, I’ve been all too familiar with the Downtown Orlando location since most of my time is spent in the heart of the city, but this was my first time experiencing the Waterford Lakes location.

As I entered the restaurant, I was immediately engulfed in what I like to call “Wahlberg Culture”…if I might say. Various television sets hung around the restaurant as they played the actual Wahlberg’s TV show called Wahlburgers—a show that depicts the life of the Wahlberg’s family. Large murals and pictures of Mark Wahlberg, his mother and his many siblings were plastered all throughout the restaurant. Accents of the city Boston—the city where the Wahlberg family is originally from—also played as decorative pieces throughout the restaurant. Once the presentation began, plates of food began to slowly make our way. Delicious cheeseburgers with various toppings were served. Sides of the macaroni salad and even sweet potato tatter tots—this was actually my first time trying that combination—was available for us.

The signature item on their menus, The Our Burger, consists of a 1/3lb. meat beef patty with lettuce, tomato, onion, “government” cheese—which is a play on reference to the early and mid-1950s where the government would distribute free cheese to specific areas due to economic reasons, and the last condiment is Paul’s signature wahl sauce & house made pickles.

And as we devoured our delicious burgers, a celebrity guest was actually in the building with us. Chef Paul Wahlberg, older brother to Mark Wahlberg and star on the show Wahlburgers, decided to join us in our delicious food tasting. He even snapped a few pictures with us.
