A Stay at The Celeste Hotel
A new hotel has officially opened on the University of Central Florida’s main campus, and it’s completely out of this world…literally. Recently, I was given a complimentary stay at one of UCF’s newest properties, and it’s just a hop away from my alma mater.
The Celeste Hotel, which is now the first hotel to secure a spot within UCF’s East Orlando campus, is merging luxurious amenities with extraterrestrial-themed décor. As I entered The Celeste Hotel for the very first time, I couldn’t help but notice the hotel’s celestial aesthetic as I roamed the lobby.
A vast majority of the lobby’s walls were decorated with illustrations of philosophers and theorists like Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates. Geometrical sculptures were nested in each corner, depicting famous outer space anomalies like black-holes, galaxies, and stars, and both the floor and walls were covered in cosmic-patterned shapes.
Glass containers were filled with famous U.S. space shuttles and equipment, and the hotel’s staff were even given abnormal titles like Hydration Specialist and Mission Control Technician, which completely went on par with the hotel’s celestial brand.
I must say, the immense attention to detail and branding was definitely one of the hotel’s strong points. After I was checked-in by the hotel’s hospitable staff, my media tour of the hotel’s grounds began.
As the media relations specialists quaintly guided us throughout The Celeste’s property, we were able to intimately take in a full view of all the hotel’s convenient amenities. The Celeste offers an array of on-site services for their guests during their stay. With a room key card, guests can enjoy quick access to the hotel’s pool, gym, and even private conference rooms for ad-hoc meetings.
The hotel also boasts a full-sized ballroom, which can probably fit just about every person I’ve ever met in my entire life in it.
After the private media tour, The Celeste’s staff decided to host a private food tasting event at their Aurora restaurant, located just a few feet away from the hotel’s main lobby.
The term Aurora, which correlates back to the Aurora Borealis—a beautiful phenomenon of lights from the earth’s outer atmosphere—was just another ping to the hotel’s celestial brand. The Aurora restaurant offers a plethora of delectable dishes and drinks for their patrons to choose from, and many of the menu items have also adopted outer space-like names, which made for a rather interesting conversation.
A few of the dishes included the Quail Devil Eggs, Celeste Crab Cake, Heirloom Tomato, Shrimp & Grits, Chili Glazed Duck Wings, and Seared Scallops.
However, of all the gourmet dishes, my favorite was their signature dessert dish, The Supernova. Once again, another nod to the hotel’s outer space aesthetic, The Supernova is a dark chocolate balloon dome filled with vanilla bean ice cream and smashed raspberry. Yum!
